The British Foreign Office confirmed the visit of British High Commissioner Jane Marriott and said that she met British citizens of Pakistani origin in Mirpur, played a football match in the street with children and also visited a bakery.
While the British High Commission in Islamabad also uploaded a video clip on social media about Jane Marriott’s engagements. However, the British Foreign Ministry refrained from commenting on India’s protest. It should be noted that the British High Commissioner’s visit took place at a time when general elections are going to be held in both rival countries, India and Pakistan.
It is also worth mentioning here that US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Bloom visited Gilgit-Baltistan in October last year, on which India informed the US of its concerns and New Delhi urged the international community to Respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India.
